An article appearing in this issue,
“Dream Anxiety Level in Patients with
Major Depression”by Bilici,Yazici,Ozer,
and Kavakci,addresses an area of research
that has become re-invigorated as a result
of new findings relating REM sleep and
negative dream affect.Brain imaging
studies of normal subjects while in REM
sleep (1,2),show that there is a distinctive
pattern of brain activation at this time.
